There’s a good chance that Soji-ji is the most impressive temple you’ve never heard of. You’ll find it on the road out to Wajima, recently refurbished and looking absolutely glorious. Unlike many other important religious buildings around Japan, the one thing you won’t find here is huge crowds of people. Considering the site is 700 years old, that makes it extremely rare – a place where people can still come and contemplate history and the universe in silence.
