Komatsu Airport, less than an hour south west from Kanazawa, serves the prefecture with flights both domestic and international. From Sapporo in the north to Naha in the south, most of Japan is covered, as well as occasional international flight to Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei. For the latest information see

Naturally, Ishikawa is also well connected with rail links all over Japan – a situation that’s about to get even better with the long-awaited arrival of a brand new shinkansen line. This will mean travel to Kanazawa from central Tokyo will take around two and a half hours, less time than it would take to travel by air. For timetables and other information see
